Frederick R. Cumagun

from In Her Room

      Should We

      And should we
      find ourselves coiled in bed
      with thoughts of God
      with thoughts of Mother
or Father, hush and shut your eyes.
The sighs will drift into the night, and
      the night has room enough.

In the morning with each button,
we cover ourselves. Mother will be
      downstairs fixing breakfast.
